Are You Within 2 Years of Retirement or Entering D.R.O.P?

TRSL members within two years of retirement or entering DROP can sign up for a 30-minute telephone counseling session with a TRSL counselor. These sessions are conducted on designated Saturdays throughout the year. Upcoming Saturday sessions are as follows:

October 13, 2007
December 8, 2007
January 12, 2008
February 2, 2008
February 23, 2008
March 8, 2008

Please call early to reserve an appointment on the date of your choice. A TRSL counselor will call you at home on the appointed date to answer your retirement questions for a 30-minute period. Appointments are scheduled by phone on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call 225-922-2822 to schedule your appointment.

Good news!  Plaquemines Parish School Board provides its employees with monthly discounts on wireless services from AT&T. Switch to AT&T today or enroll an existing AT&T account in PPSB's discount program using one of the following three methods:

Hurricane Prep Instructions For All Employees

1. Make a list and keep it of things you will take with you in an evacuation from your workplace, e.g., laptops, jump drives, files saved to disk or CD, data records, student records, personal items, I.D. badges, anything that couldn't be replaced in the future.
2. The main form of communication of School Board advisories before and during an evacuation will be the Plaquemines Parish School Board website: www.ppsb.org
3. In addition, information will be posted through our emergency channels - WWL 870 am radio, WWL TV Channel 4, and www.WWLTV.com.
4. If all of these forms of communication are unavailable, employees should call the Louisiana Department of Education at 1-877-4LEAP21 (1-877-453-2721).
5. Try to establish contact with the School District or your Supervisor as soon as possible after the storm, by internet or phone, to report your status and to receive instructions.  Get your Supervisor's cell phone number now to take with you.
6. Helpful suggestions:
• Learn how to use text-messaging on your cell phone.  It works when the local telephone switch (like 504) goes down.  But, it costs money to text message.
• Be sure to have a car charger for your cell phone.  Your car battery may be the only source of power if electricity is off.
